THE AMAZING JIMMI MAYES & Cat Rhodes and The Truth
Jimmi Mayes was the featured performer in Pensacola, Florida at an event located in the Five Sisters Blues Café, a restaurant built on some of Pensacola’s deepest history right in the heart of historic downtown Pensacola – The Blocks. Jimmi performed and talked about his book The Amazing Jimmi Mayes Sideman to the Stars giving firsthand information about working and performing on the “Chitlin Circuit.” He performed with Cat Rhodes and The Truth band. A Mississippi Blues Marker is located right outside of the front door of the Five Sisters Blues Café. The Truth featuring Cat Rhodes are noted on the marker.
Jimmi Mayes played and toured with Little Walter, Jimmy Reed, Pinetop Perkins, Willie “Big Eyes” Smith, Robert Junior Lockwood, and more over the course of his career. He backed Marvin Gaye and later became the bandleader for Joey Dee & the Starliters who had a monster hit the “Peppermint Twist” during the time Jimmi was with them. He became good friends with Jimi Hendrix and eventually he was asked by Jimi Hendrix to record with him. Mayes is on four of Hendrix’s albums. www.jimmimayes.com

This band packed the house each night to standing room only! Many shows feature Two Time BMA Award Winner and Multi Grammy Nominee Biscuit Miller.
